Linda
Elvira Piedra began
photographing in 1995, initially concentrating on the portrait. In 1997
she moved to New Mexico to work with Walter Chappell and with his encouragement
began using the 8x10 view camera. Her choice of subjects was broadened
to include the still life and landscape, all of these for her being nevertheless
related to the portrait. The image One Flower is a self-portrait and is
part of a continuing effort to observe and document interior states. Piedra's
first solo exhibition, "The Story of My Love," was held at Pure
Land Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico, July-August 2001. She is represented
by Photo-Eye Gallery in Santa Fe, where she will have an exhibition this
